Raise your hand if you’ve heard about or attended Buffalo Arts Studio’s event Trimania 🙋🏻♀️
This special event happens every three years and takes over the Tri-Main Center - a massive 6 story building that spans the length of two city blocks. Each of the 6 floors in Tri-Main invite attendees to immerse themselves in culture - from jazz bands, to strip-teasers, live art installations on the walls, to interactive art pieces that you can literally jump into.
So when’s the next Trimania? 2021. Sorry to get y’all hyped when you still have another year to wait, but there is a reason I did it: This year, Buffalo Arts Studio announced a brand new triennial event to add to their roster that grew from the idea to host a ‘mini mania’ - Live On Five.
Live on Five is on Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 7:00 - 11:00 PM, and will consume the fifth floor of Tri-Main. There are 13 musical acts performing that night including Americana Raga: Padmanabha/Strongmen Duo, Curtis Lovell, Pine Fever, Dennis Duling, Jeremiah McClain, Deadwolf, Lesionread, Elena Erokhina, Andrew Biggie, Banjo Juice Jazz Band, Welks Mice, and Baby Machines. While I am super excited for everyone on this list, I have to say - if you haven’t heard Curtis Lovell live yet… YO, you are missing out. As one of the event staff, if I end up needing to direct her when she arrives on-site, it will be a major and likely embarrassing fangirl moment.
There will be multiple live art installations, featuring the work of Edreys Wajed, Sara Zak, and Muhammad Zaman.
Over 20 tenants will have their doors open showcasing the creative businesses, service organizations, and artist spaces that make up the fifth-floor community.
Additionally, you can count on a number of beer, wine, and food options to keep you well satiated as you enjoy all there is to see and hear!
One thing that makes this event unique from the anticipated Trimania event are the 5 by 5 original art pieces that will be for sale, created by a huge list of local artists (click here to see the full list). The pieces are first come first serve, so if you have your eye on a particular artist’s square - get yourself there at the start.
With tickets at $20 pre-sale and $25 at the door, I don’t know why you haven’t already added this event to your calendar. Get your tickets here.
I’ll be in event planner mode and loving every minute of it. I hope to see you there!
